Introduction
Melamine flush door is often referred to as a "Melamine-Faced Invisible Door" or "Pre-Finished Invisible Door" in interior design. It is a minimalist architectural element that seamlessly integrates a functional door leaf with wall decoration. Its core characteristic lies in the use of a melamine-faced panel for the door surface, combined with special installation techniques to achieve a visual effect that is flush with the wall, frameless, and handle-free, thereby achieving the goal of "invisibility."
1. The "Flush" Structure: The Essence of Flush-Mount Installation
"Flush Door" specifically refers to a structure where the door leaf surface is perfectly level with the door frame or wall surface. In melamine invisible doors, this structure is achieved through the following design features:
- Frameless Design: Traditional wooden or metal door frames are eliminated; the door leaf is directly embedded into a pre-prepared wall opening.
- Seamless Integration: The edges of the door leaf are typically given special treatment (such as beveled or stepped detailing). The surrounding wall paneling or paint layer needs to overlap the door leaf edge by approximately 0.8-1.2 cm to visually eliminate any sense of a gap.
- Concealed Hardware:
1. Hinges: Heavy-duty invisible hinges or hydraulic damped hinges are used, recessed into the side of the door leaf and completely invisible when the door is closed.
2. Locks/Handles: No external handles or lock cylinders are installed. A push-to-open mechanism or magnetic silent latch is used. An internal knob may be retained for locking from the inside, but the exterior remains absolutely smooth.
2. Core Material: The Advantages of Melamine-Faced Panels
As the substrate for invisible doors, melamine-faced panels offer the following significant advantages:
- Wear and Scratch Resistance: High surface hardness makes them resistant to marks from daily opening and closing friction, suitable for high-traffic areas.
- Eco-Friendly and Stable: High-quality melamine boards have low formaldehyde emissions. The board structure is stable, resistant to warping and cracking, ensuring the long-term flatness of the invisible door.
- Rich Variety of Finishes: Can simulate various wood grains, stone patterns, solid colors, and even fabric textures. They easily match the color of surrounding paint, wood veneers, or wallpaper, which is key to achieving "visual disappearance."
- Easy to Clean: The dense surface is water-resistant, stain-resistant, and easy to maintain, making it particularly suitable for humid environments like kitchens and bathrooms.
Melamine Faced Board (MFB), commonly known as melamine board, is produced by impregnating paper printed with colored or wood-grain patterns into melamine resin adhesive, then drying it to a certain degree of curing. This treated paper is then laid on the surface of substrates such as particleboard, moisture-resistant board, medium-density fiberboard (MDF), or hardboard, and formed into a decorative panel through hot pressing. A simple video of the hot pressing process in our workshop is as follows:

Precision Measurement and Base Layer Preparation: Invisible doors place extremely high demands on the verticality and flatness of the wall (tolerance must be controlled within 2mm) . Before installation, the walls on both sides of the door opening need to be reinforced (especially for lightweight partition walls), and oriented strand board (OSB) should be used to create a leveling base layer.
Hinge Adjustment: Typically, three hinges are installed, and it is crucial to ensure that the axes of all hinges are on the same vertical line. For hydraulic damped hinges, attention must be paid to the installation direction, and the closing force should be adjusted regularly to ensure smooth, silent operation.
Gap Control: The door gap width should be uniformly controlled at approximately 1-2mm, and the bottom gap needs to be coordinated with the thickness of the baseboard. It is recommended to fill the joints with matching color silicone sealant or joint compound, followed by a unified application of wall paint to achieve a truly "invisible" effect .
Daily Maintenance: Avoid impacts from sharp objects on the door surface. For minor scratches, a specialized repair paste can be used. Regularly check the hinge screws for looseness to prevent the door leaf from sagging.
Melamine flush doors, leveraging the durability of their material, the diversity of colors, and the precision of their craftsmanship, have become a key element in enhancing spatial quality in modern home design. They not only fulfill the functional requirement of passage but also achieve the ultimate unity of spatial aesthetics through the technique of "disappearance," making them an ideal choice for those pursuing a minimalist, tidy, and high-end living environment.

Applications
One May Dee Show Furniture Co., Ltd.

A. Spatial Visual Extension
In small apartments or open-plan layouts, excessive door openings can fragment walls and create visual clutter. Melamine invisible doors address this by seamlessly integrating the door into a feature wall (such as a TV or sofa wall), maintaining the wall's integrity and continuity. This visual trickery creates a sense of expanded space and fosters a minimalist, high-end atmosphere.
B. Privacy Protection and Functional Zoning
Bedroom/Study: Concealing the entrance to a bedroom or study prevents guests from directly viewing private spaces while preserving the overall aesthetic of the living area .
Bathroom: This design effectively resolves the common issue of a bathroom door facing a dining or living area, addressing both traditional concerns and aesthetic flaws by minimizing the bathroom's visual presence .
Storage Room/Walk-in Closet: Hiding storage spaces within cabinetry or walls helps maintain a tidy and organized living environment.
C. Style Adaptability
Given that melamine boards can be customized in a wide array of colors and textures, this type of invisible door can perfectly adapt to various interior design styles such as modern minimalist, Scandinavian, Wabi-Sabi, and light luxury. Matte white, warm gray, and wood-grain finishes are among the most common choices. Furthermore, the color can be precisely matched to the specific paint color used on the surrounding walls for a flawless, integrated look.
